Knysna rises

I travelled to the Garden route area around Knysna to do some trauma healing work. Here are some black and white images of Knysna and surrounds a few months after the fires.

Trauma healing work

My primary work centres around feelings and emotions. I work in the field of energy psychology doing facilitation, therapy and coaching. Early in October I visited Knysna as part of the Green Mountain 2017 land art festival to do some EFT / tapping. I held a group tapping session where anyone who wanted to show up could. We tapped away layers of hurt, pain and trauma.

It was incredible to witness. The tapping proves the impact of the fire doesn't have to be indelible. It's not obvious to see but these photo's illustrate the subtle outer shifts and changes starting to take place too. #KnysnaRises

Gauteng Opera Johannesburg 2017

Gauteng Opera performs at an impromptu Johannesburg opera house at 1 Fox Market Precinct in Ferreirastown.

Downtown opera

Patrons were treated to a delicious performance by Gauteng Opera on Sunday 20 August. Here are some of my favourite moments from the afternoon. As a side note, if you have never been to the 1 Fox Market Precinct in Ferreirastown, do yourself a favour and get there! Aside from it being the location of Mad Giant craft brewery and The Good Luck Bar (established in 1895) it's also home to a delightful array of art, craft and food shops.

AfrikaBurn 2017. Part Two

I'm often asked to describe or explain what AfrikaBurn is about. There are many obvious facets to the event: art installations, people, music and of course, the burning. AfrikaBurn is many things and to make it about one thing or another, doesn't really do justice to the other aspects not spoken about.

For me, though, AfrikaBurn is a place where subtle energies abound, waiting to dance, cajole and have fun with you. It's a place where you can meet yourself - deeply, fully and wholeheartedly and while this is not for the faint of heart, it is an incredible, life changing opportunity and one which I've never experienced in such a concentrated form anywhere else. Here then is part two of my AfrikaBurn 2017 experience. As before, these images were taken with a Canon EOS 650D and a Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III lens.

My first exhibition

I'm very excited to write that my work is being included as part of a photographic collaboration between China and South Africa, in an exhibition called "3 Cities + 1". The exhibition show cases Johannesburg (+1) and the Chinese cities Guangzhou, Beijing and Shanghai (3 Cities).

The exhibition is open daily from 10:00-17:00 at the FotoZA gallery in the Rosebank Mall level 4, opposite Planet Fitness.

"I call it '1 Double O'. It's the moment you choose to give 100 percent: The instant when you give your all, showing up fully and completely, and magic happens."

Requiem for the Living

Requiem for the Living is an indigenous South African musical composition inspired by the plight of children orphaned by AIDS. The work was conceived as an exercise in compassion and written over a period of five years as a personal response to human misery by composer Dr Rexleigh Bunyard for choirs, orchestra and soloists.
